HOW DID YOU MEET?

Nick and I met at a gym in Austin, TX. We instantly hit it off at one of our community happy hours and the rest was history.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW THEY WERE THE ONE?

I knew when we spent a week together in Cabo San Lucas. I was scared because it was our first real vacation together and it was for a week-long. We ended up having so much fun, laughing constantly. Best memories ever!

WHAT ARE YOUR THREE FAVOURITE ATTRIBUTES OF YOUR PARTNER

He loves randomly surprising me, he is very caring, and of course, makes me feel like the most special girl in the world.

WHERE DID YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR DRESS AND WHY?

Riley Luxe Lace was everything I ever dreamt of. It was the right amount of boho-ethereal and gorgeous lace that I wanted! The tulle skirt gave it the whimsical feel I also wanted as well as the double-look I was going for. I took the skirt off after the ceremony to reveal the gorgeous lace on the bottom part of the dress.

WHO PROPOSED AND HOW?

I was planning a surprise birthday party for him and one of our favorite spots in Austin TX. I had friends and flying in from out of town. Little did I know that one of his friends spilled the beans on his surprise party (because he told this friend he wanted to propose to me on this same day…). He flipped this surprise birthday into a surprise engagement for me. I remember riding up the elevator that night for the big surprise… and him acting a little funny/nervous. We arrive, everyone yells surprise! But, then no one moves. I turn around and Nick is just here on one knee. The band stopped playing and everyone in the bar stopped to stare. He flew my family in! It was the best surprise in the world.

WHAT WAS THE BEST MOMENT FOR YOU AT THE WEDDING?

My favorite part of our wedding was the moment I walked out of the barn and saw everyone standing and Nick at the altar. I was able to look around and see all of the beautiful decor and people there. And, also really take in the beauty of the venue and the perfect weather.

WHAT SURPRISED YOU MOST AT OR ABOUT YOUR WEDDING?

This isn’t really a pleasant surprise, but the opinions of others and how true colors really come out during wedding planning. It was something I really hoped would not happen, but unfortunately, it did. Never forget that this is your one and only time that you and your husband can be completely selfish. This was our day. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU TELL OTHER BRIDES?

Everything will not go as perfectly as planned, but it all happens for a reason and will end up still being PERFECT in the end. Don’t sweat the small stuff and try to ignore negative opinions. This day is about you and how you want it. It only happens once!

WHAT WAS THE ONE THING YOU DID DIFFERENTLY FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Non-traditionally, we booked our venue before we were engaged, as well as some of our other vendors. I still had no idea when Nick would propose…or no idea how he was going to pull it off! We had entertainment during our cocktail hour using Vannagram Photobooth VW bug and also used a boho trailer for our cocktail hour bar. Later in the evening, the bar switched into a late-night snack bar serving sliders, mini tacos, and french fries.

We Bought a Piece of Land!

Back in May of 2019, Nick and I started looking for homes. There are many daunting things that go into buying a home…things I never even realized. It’s not as easy as going to the store and making a purchase, lol.

After searching and touring a few homes, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to be able to customize a home without having to do any remodeling. This meant, building from scratch. We then began to search Austin for any new developments in areas that we liked. To be honest, I think we only looked at two before deciding on Montebello Community in North West Austin. The style of the home reminded me of homes back in Santa Barbara with the terra-cotta curved tile roofs and stood clear of the more modern style that most of Austin’s new construction is.

Working with Taylor Morrison (the home builder for Montebello) was such a easy process. Highly recommend! We first picked our lot within the community. Next, we picked the layout of our home. We knew we wanted a single story and about 2k square footage, with 3 bedrooms… and a big walk-in closet in the master ;). They had the perfect layout and we were able to upgrade certain things like, having a bigger covered patio, a bigger cave-like shower in the master, and adding an extra powder room near the kitchen.

Next step was the design studio. This was the really fun part! We went in with the mindset of picket out everything we wanted, putting budget behind us. So, we did just that. After the total numbers were rang up with all of the design aspects we chose, we were able to go home and sort through items that we REALLY wanted and some items that we could change into something less expensive but maybe looked the same. For example, we really wanted a certain tile in the shower, but that was way expensive, so we were able to find a tile that fit within our budget that looked relatively the same. After making these selections, and adding in electrical features such as speakers on the patio, and electrical outlets for a hung TV, the house was able to break ground!
